Lynette & Her Girls

lynette

Lynette is also my first cousin and Nancy's sister.  As kids we did something together almost every week during the summer.  It may have been a picnic at January Wabash Park, or Forest Park with a trip to the St. Louis Zoo.  We laugh today about those lunches of ham salad sandwiches (that were really bologna salad sandwiches) and watered down koolaid.

At least once every summer we drove down to see our Aunt Imogene who lived in Bloomsdale, MO.  As soon as we got their, Aunt Imogene would catch a chicken &  chop off it's head.  Chickens really do run around with their head.  SHe would fry the chicken for our lunch.  Our mom's would be yelling at us stay out of the creek as we headed straight to it.  First we'd wade barefoot, then we'd roll up our pant legs to our knees and go in a little deeper and then what the heck, on in we went clothes and all.  It was so much fun.  Good thing I had brothers to pull off the leaches.

The picture of Lynette was taken at a family birthday celebration we had for the March birthdays last year.  Dave bought her three balloons that combined, added up to her age.  Take a guess what the 3rd balloon said.

 Dawn

Dawn is married to Lynette's son, Nathan.  They are an Air Force family with 4 children.  Nathan and Dawn have just returned from a mission trip to Haiti.

 arianna

Arianna is Dawn's daughter who is becoming quite the young lady.  I have not spent any time with Arianna but I get to see pictures and hear stories from her very proud Grandma.

 Jennifer G

Jennifer is Lynette's daughter-in-law and is a sweet southern belle.  She moved from Natchez, MS to St. Louis when she and Scotty married, leaving her home and family. Of course It took all of 2 seconds for her to become a part of our family.  I am so proud of her.  She was recently named Nurse of the Year for SSM Healthcare and promoted to Nurse Manager on the telemetry floor at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Nancy & Her Girls

Nancy

Nancy is my first cousin.  She was the first in the family to move all the way over across the river to St. Charles.  Now she's move even farther away.  I've seen the before of this house and can't wait to see the stunning fireplace, laid brick by brick from ceiling to floor, and all the rest of their plans brought to fruition.

Back in our single days, we used to go to the movies, ballgames and the Muny.  Anyone wanting to give us free tickets, we were there.  Do you know where you saw the movie Love Story?  Nancy, Lynette & I ventured downtown to the Stadium Cinema to see it when it first came to the big screen.

 kristen

Kristen is Nancy's daughter who was recently married last fall.  She was a stunning bride and her wedding was beautiful.  This photo was taken on her Hawiaiin honeymoon.

 brandi

Brandi is Nancy's stepdaughter and is very ambitious.  She graduated from high school and went straight to college.  Brandi and I have a few things in common.  Until her dad married Nancy, she, like me, was the youngest of three children and the only girl.  Both of her brothers are in the Air Force just as mine were when I graduated from high school.

Pam, Jennifer & the Girls

Pam

Pam is married to my brother Dave.  She is from Granity City, IL.  The Dawdy's were our neighbors at our cabin on the Illinois River in Nutwood, IL.  We have some great memories of our time spent on Pecan Grove.  The flood of '93 wiped out all of those cabins when the levy broke.

 Jennifer

Jennifer is Dave & Pam's oldest daughter who lives in Witchita, Kansas.  I sure wish she lived closer so that we could see her more.

 Abi

My great-neice Abi is Jennifer's oldest daughter.  She gets prettier everytime I see her.  The photo used in this layout was taken at her 11th birthday party.  The icing on the cake is the infamous Aunt Polly's icing that is loved by all of our family.

Dani

Dani is also my great-neice and Jennifer's youngest daughter.  Based on what I heard coming out of the bathroom this week, I believe she will be an opera singer.  She is a hoot!

Carolyn & Jessica

carolyn

This is my sister-in-law Carolyn Graves. She was hand-picked by me. That is, I introduced her to my brother Bill, during our senior year in high school. She has been around the world with him during his career as an Air Force chaplain. They now reside in Red Bud, IL where Bill is the pastor of the United Church of Christ.

Carolyn is also teaches the violin.  Her violin students perform at many functions including playing the National Anthem at a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game annually.

Bill & Caroyn have two (now adult) children, Jessica and Joel.  Jessica lives in DuPage Conty, Illinois and Joel is a Marine captain stationed in San Diego.

 jessica

My niece Jessica lives with her 3 dogs and several cats.  As told in her journaling, she is a vet. She graduated from the University of Illinois with a master’s degree in parasitological and a DVM.  I am so proud of her.

I just love the Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie color combination and it works beautifully with this pattern. Those embossed butterflies are just too cute.

Welcome to the Family

Over the next few weeks I will be publishing the pages from a scrapbook my cousin Tammy and I made for the newest member of our family, Mrs. Jenna Graves.  My nephew Chad and Jenna were married yesterday in Isla Mujeres, Mexico.  Chad and Jenna live in Oklahoma City and their work schedules kept them from coming to St. Louis for a wedding shower.  Tammy suggested that we make a scrapbook of all the girls in our family so that Jenna could meet us.  Each girl sent us a photo and wrote their own journaling.  We tucked gift cards here & there.  We had a blast doing this and hope that Jenna will feel loved and welcomed into our family.

We used the Island Oasis Designer Paper from Stampin’ UP! along with a palate of Tempting Turquoise, Rose Red, Old Olive and So Safron cardstock, ribbon and brads.  You’ll see a few other colors here and there.  Each scrapbook page is 8 x 8.  We made all of the embellishments from Sizzix dies and Stampin’ UP! punches.

I used the My Design Studio software from Stampin’ UP! to create a few digital pages and some of the journaling.  I am really pleased at how this software makes it a breeze at getting multiple photographs on a page.  It’s practically a no-brainer.  And using the stamps and punches as icons added a special touch to the journaling.

By this time Jenna will have received this book and I can now publish the pages without ruining the surprise.  If you have any specific questions on any of the pages, please ask and I will be happy to share.  At the same time, let me introduce you to my wonderful family.

Tammy Miller

This is Tammy who was my creative partner in making this scrapbook.  She is my first cousin.  Here mom and my mom were sisters.  We get together often and make little gifts for the girls in our family.  It's so much fun and you should see the mess we make.  Tools, paper, trimmers, adhesives, ribbons, punches galore.  It appears to be a disaster.  We really have to watch the clock too because before you know it, it will be 1:00AM.
