Donald the Frog

donald-the-frog

The Pieces of Heart challenge this month was to create a card using at least 10 circles with 2 different sizes. I have named this frog after our mascot, Don Schell who gave us this challenge.   I thought it to be quite a challenge until I happened upon this adorable punched owl by Tammy Howel.   It was almost as if he came to life as I assembled his parts. There are way more than 10 circles and 2 different sizes so I met the challenge without a contest.

Best thing about this card?   With the exception from the Whisper White card base, all of the paper came from my scrap box.

For the Frog you will need:

1 – 1 3/4" circle Always Artichoke
1 – 1 3/8" circle Old Olive
2 – 3/4" circles Always Artichoke
2 – 1/2" circles Whisper White
2 – 1/4" circles Basic Black
2 – small flowers from Boho Blossoms punch Always Artichoke
2 – small ovals Always Artichoke
1 – large oval Always Artichoke
For smile – cut 3/4" Basic Black and then cut 1/2" circle form that in a smile shape.

Sponge green pieces with Always Artichoke.  For eyes the Always Artichoke circles are glued behind the oval and the white and black in front of the oval.

For the Lily Pad, you will need:
2 –  heart punch
3 –  flower from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack
3 –  ½ circles (the small circle from the Owl Punch is a perfect fit)

For the Embellishment, you will need:
1 –  Scallop Circle Punch
1 –  3/8 circle punch
1 –  1/4 circle punch
1 –  flower from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack
1 – ½ circles (the small circle from the Owl Punch is a perfect fit)

Stamps: Friendly Phrases (#126149w or 126151c)
Ink:   Always Artichoke, Basis Black
Paper:   Always Artichoke, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
Accessories:   Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, 1 ¾ Circle Punch, 1 3/8 Circle Punch, 1 ¼ Circle Punch, ¾ Circle Punch, ½ Circle Punch ¼ Circle Punch (or Owl Punch), Boho Blossums Punch, Small and Large Oval Punch Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, Scallop Circle Punch, Old Olive 5/8 Ribbon, Glue Dots, Stampin' Dimensionals

April Swap

april-swap

I had a terrible time coming up with a color combination for this card.  I love the Botanical Gazette DSP and wanted to use this particular stamp with it.   I was so stumped that I had to take it to my Peeps for help.   We tried several color combinations until Voila!  We found it. Crumb Cake with Not Quite Navy.

The base of the card is Crumb Cake. The mat is Night Quite Navy ran through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. The DSP is from the Botanical Gazette series now retired from the Occasions Mini Catalog but available digitally on My Design Studio. I used a scrap of Crumb Cake with the Scallop Border Punch and tucked it just to the left under the DSP. Next a wrap with Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon.

The stamp set if from the Four Frames set , a sneak peak from the 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog.  I also used the Teeny Tiny Wishes sentiment with the Stamp-a-ma-jig. Both are stamped with Night Quite Navy on Crumb Cake and punched out with the Decorative Label Punch. A faux mat is also punched with the Decorative Label Punch from Not Quite Navy. Not Quite Navy brads were used to embellish the sentiment.

I really like the design of this card.  I was going for a masculine look and I think it turned out just fine.  Not my favorite card but I think I did it justice.  Thanks to my PEEPs, Pam, Judy & Patty for helping me get it right!

Summary
Stamps:  Four Frames, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper:  Crumb Cake, Not Quite Navy and Botanical Gazette DSP
Ink: Not Quite Navy
Accessories:  Sizzix Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Scallop Border Punch, Decorative Label Punch, Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon, Stamp-a-magig, Brads, Dimensionals, Adhesive

Jennifer’s Wedding

jennifers-wedding

I know!  It’s been a long time since I have published a card and I don’t have any great excuse except that I’m busy. I have been making cards though and hopefully I will get caught up with sharing them.
My niece who lives in Wichita, KS recently got married. I wasn’t able to make the trip so I had to send a WOW card with a WOW gift.
The base of the card is  Whisper White. I used the Shimmery White cardstock with the Vintage Wallpaper Sizzix embossing folder but only put about 2/3 through the Big Shot leaving the bottom blank. This was mounted on Brushed Silver cardstock as a mat.  Next a wrap with Whisper White organza ribbon. I just love this ribbon. It’s sooooo elegant!!!!
The sentiment  from the classic Sincere Salutations was stamped with retired Encore Silver on a scrap piece of Shimmery White cardstock.   Versamark with silver embossing powder would work with this beautifully for a current method.   The Decorative Label punch was used to punch out the sentiment and to create the faux mat.
The Pièce de résistance is the hat pin with assorted bead & crystals from my bauble box (some from the retired Pretties Kit).
I mailed this card using the Padded Envelope (116911). It made the journey perfectly and arrived just in time to be placed next to her wedding cake. What an honor.
This card would be just as lovely using the Brushed Gold cardstock, Gold Embossing Powder and gold hat pin.    Perfect for a golden wedding anniversary.
Stay tuned to see some of my recent creations.  I’m going to try to get better at posting more often.
Summary

Paper:  Whisper White, Shimmery White and Brushed Silver
Ink: Encore Silver (retired)

Dazzling Blueberry Crisp

buddy-swap-november-2010

This card has a two-fold purpose.  The first is a birthday card for my upline, Pam D'Urso.  I had to make something very special for not only is she a very special friend but a creative and talented leader.  Her support is endless and I appreciate her commitment to this business.

The second purpose is for a monthly Buddy Card Swap lead by Karen Graff-Povis.  My swap buddy for this month was Patti Schnell.  After receiving this card in the mail, Patti sent me an e-mail telling me that she was wondering why in the world I was sending her a birthday card when it wasn't her birthday.  Then she realized I was her swap buddy.  What a hoot!  I love this swap because you never know from one month to the next who your buddy is and then it's a big surprise when you get your card in the mail.

Here are the details for this card:

Stamps:  Razzle Dazzle, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper:  Blueberry Crisp DSP, Not Quite Navy, Sahara Sand and Very Vanilla
Ink:  Not Quite Navy (stamp pad & marker) and Sahara Sand (marker)
Tools & Accessories:  Sizzix Big Shot, Sizzix Scallop Circle #2 Die, Circle Scissors, Word Window punch, Scallop Edge border punch, 5/8" Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon, Not Quite Navy Brads, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Dimensionals and adhesive
