Christmas Cards for Soldiers

Yesterday, 10 amazing ladies gathered at my home to make Christmas Cards for our country’s Soldiers.   We had a great time making 165 handcrafted  cards that will be distributed to some 39 locations worldwide by From our Hearts out of Jefferson City, MO.

This mission is very near & dear to my heart having two career Air Force brothers.  They’ll both tell you today that knowing the folks back home were supporting them was something that helped their morale especially during the Christmas season.

Enjoy these cards & let them get your creative juices flowing  for making your Christmas Cards.  Speaking of this year’s Christmas Cards, 3 of my peeps and I are hosting our 2nd annual Christmas Card Workshop on October 6th.  Our attendees will make 24 cards (4 each of 6 designs).  If your interesting in joining us, please let me know and I  will send you a brochure.

Thanks to all my peeps who helped support this mission.  I can’t wait for the next Cards for Soldiers event where we will be making Valentine cards.

On a personal note,  we sure did miss my brother Dave yesterday who would have taken pictures and cheered us on.  Unfortunately, duty called.

Alhambra

This card was one of my June camp cards.  One of my customers asked for a project using a wheel.  I love the Alhambra Jumbo Wheel new in the 2012-2013 catalog.  I think it has lots of possibilities.

I went to a retreat over the weekend with my Stampin’ UP! peeps.  Our upline Pam D’Urso invited us to visit her new home in Mahomet, IL.  We are always up for a road trip.  The highlight of the weekend was a shoebox exchange.  I chose to use this card because it uses a wheel to create designer paper and I wanted my peeps to try out making the double bow.

Ooh,  Yadi just hit a home run to tie the game.  (You know I’m watching the game this time of night).  I digress.

So what do you think Alhambra means?  I did a little research and in my interpretation, a fitting description would be, ”rich ornamentation.    I like it and the card too.
