Masking the Moon

I made this card a while back for a One Layer Card Challenge shoe box swap with my peeps at our Prairie Retreat in Mahomet, IL.  The challenge came from our Upline, Pam D’Urso.  Trust me, one layer was a real challenge for me as I prefer layers and plenty of them.   Susan Field, my peep & fabulous road trip buddy, dressed her’s up a bit with ⅛” Taffeta Ribbon.  When I put this card in my August Stamp Camp, I used it as a layer and added the Taffeta Ribbon.  It was voted as the favorite card of the day.

Don’t forget to use this fabulous stamp (could it be a dandelien) on the inside of your card and envelope.  Adds more WOW!

And of course, I sent this card to my good friend Elaine for her birthday so I had to stall once again on the post.

Whether it’s the moon or the sun, I love masking.

Good Thoughts

I was intrigued by Sandy Mathis’ design using this two-step stamping technique.  It’s a technique I have always shied away from.  This card was so sweet it, gave me the inspiration to conquer the technique.  Sandy used the In Color Boutique Details embellishment on this card.  An alternative could be Simply Pressed Clay. And the ruffled ribbon…..Ahhhhhh!

Laurie’s Card

I recently attended the Stampin’ UP! Convention in Salt Lake City.  On Wednesday evening I participated in setting a World Record for the Most Greeting Cards Sent Simultaneously from a Single Location.  I made a card, had it addressed with the required postage and took it with me unsealed to Salt Lake City.  There was a representative from the Guiness Book of World Records examining all 2,984 cards to make sure they met the required criteria.  I stood in line for 2 hours to make my mark on the world.  It was like being at Target at 5:00am the day after Thanksgiving.

I guess you are wondering why in the world I would stand in line for 2 hours for anything.   Well the reason why I stood in line is because my card was going to my special friend, Laurie.  I wanted to make sure she knew that I was thinking about her from the land of stamping.

I also got a chance to meet peep, Susan Field’s hometown South Florida demo group.   I’ve been hearing about them for several years and I had the opportunity to put faces to those names.  What a great group of ladies!  It was such a pleasure hanging out with them in that 2-hour line.   We had planned a Dinner & a Swap with the St. Louis and South Florida demo groups.  I used this same card for the swap.

As my final bang for the buck, I will feature this card at my August Stamp Camp.  Since I have already sent this as a Sneak Peek, I’m not spoiling any surprises.

I used this card as a make & take at a crop I attended last Friday evening.  The ladies loved making it.  It is just a very classy card filled with meaning.  I hope it will brighten the day of the recipients.  We also made this card at my June Stamp Camp.

Great Minds Think Alike

I saw this card on the Stampin’ Connection and just fell in love with it.  This is the only stamp in the Serene Silhouette collection that I had not used yet.  I made up the card and used it as the Sneak Peak on my April Stamp Camp announcement.

A few weeks later, I went to a Card Buffet hosted by my peeps, Judy Sumner, Marla Schack & Mary Taylor.  They also had this card as one of their projects.

This just proves that great minds think alike.

The simple masking technique creates a versatile card suitable for many occassions.
